The Importance of Receiving the Holy Spirit
(1) Only those who receive the Holy Spirit belong to Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9)
(2) After we receive the Holy Spirit, God will recognize that we are the children of Him. (Roman 8:16)
(3) Only when we are baptized with the Holy Spirit can we be born again and enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5-6)
(4) The Holy Spirit is the evidence of the heavenly inheritance, and only those who receive the Holy Spirit can inherit the inheritance. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
(5) The Holy Spirit burns our sins like fire and renews our spiritual life. (Isaiah 4:3-4, Matthew 3:11, Titus 3:5)
(6) The Holy Spirit is the seal of God. To receive the Holy Spirit is to receive the seal. Those who have the seal are the people known by the Lord. (John 3:33, 2 Corinthians 1:22, Ephesians 4:30, 2 Timothy 2:19, Revelation 7:2-3)
(7) Only those who receive the Holy Spirit can understand the truth. (John 16:12-13, 1 John 2:20,27)
(8) Receiving the Holy Spirit is the evidence that we are sent by Jesus. Only after we receive the Holy Spirit we can preach the truth, and we have the power to forgive or retain sins for others, and we can perform the three Holy Sacraments for others including Living Water Baptism, Foot Washing, and Holy Communion. (John 20:21-23, Romans 10:14-15)
(9) After receiving the Holy Spirit, we will have power. The Holy Spirit will add our faith, eloquence, courage and all kinds of spiritual gifts, helping us preach the gospel and be a good witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:8)
