Do Not See The Law And The Prophet But See Jesus

Luke 9:28–36 (NKJV): 28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

The appearance of Jesus’s face was altered on the Transfiguration mountain and his robe became white and glistening. Two men, Moses and Elijah appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his decease, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Jesus and his disciples went up on the mountain to pray. Peter and his companions were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.

Peter said to Jesus happily, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He thought the place was perfect from man's feelings and intellect. He was willing to take effort to stay in this stage and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Who is Moses and Elijah?

Moses, a faithful and humble servant of God who led Israel out of Egypt and received the God's law from Mount Sinai, so people remembered him deeply. Elijah was the faithful prophet of God who conveyed the Word of God to warn the Israel. He was so faithful that after his prayer it was no rain in three and a half years and after prayer seven times it could rain again. And finally, he was raised up to heaven by God in a whirlwind. He was known as the chariots and horsemen of Israel.

Did Peter’s prayer to Jesus please him or not? What did the Bible tell us? Then the Scriptures say that he did not know what he was saying." What Peter said was for his own will, from the love of man's blood and flesh. He did not understand God's will as he prevent Jesus from taking up his cross. Why? What is God's will?

Malachi 4:4–6 (NKJV): 4“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

There are two men here, that is Moses and Elijah. Elijah and Moses came before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, to prepare the ways for Jesus. Moses is the representative of the law and Elijah is the representative of the prophet. The book of the law and the prophets are both testified for Jesus. Do not equate the law and the prophet with Jesus like Peter who wanted to set up three tabernacles, one for Jesus, one for the law and one for the prophet which is not the will of God. What is God's will? That is that we see no one except Jesus and only listen to Jesus.

From the Matthew, we can see while he was still speaking, a bright cloud came and overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud said, “This is my Beloved Son, hear him !” and then when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. Sometimes we are like Peter at this time , as well as his two non-word companions, sleeping in prayer and when we wake up to make three tabernacles, one for Jesus, one for the law and one for the prophet. And we feel even happy to think what we do is right and spiritual. Indeed, we do not know what we are saying and doing.

Do not exalt the law, and do not exalt the prophets but only exalt Jesus. Do not give glory to the law, do not give glory to the prophets neither, but only give glory to Jesus. Do not see the law and do not see the prophets, but only see Jesus. Do not lead people to the law, and do not lead to the prophets, but only lead to the Jesus. Do not personally set up a tabernacle to the law, and do not make a tabernacle to the prophet, but only to Jesus. Only Jesus is God, who is the life of the Lord and power, honor and thanks would be to our Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 7:11–12 (NKJV): 11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”
